Incident Report / Actions Taken by Team Members
On Sunday, December 29, I was reviewing the STAR reports from the Saturday evening services. The San Marcos STAR report was submitted by Sharon Barber and included an event at 1811 hours. The STAR event described an individual with disruptive behavior in the Study Hall who was escorted off the campus by members of the Safety Team.
I reviewed footage of the Saturday evening service and observed Roby Myers sitting alone at a round table in the second row from the back in the Study Hall. There was a total of 13 tables with 23 other church attenders watching the service. At approximately 1757 hours, Roby began rummaging through his bags at the table. For the next several minutes, Roby continued to look through multiple bags and went back and forth from the table to the nearby dresser on the south wall. At one point, he sat down in a chair next to the dresser and dumped the contents of his bag onto the floor. He rummaged through the items and placed them back in his bag. He eventually got up, retrieved another bag at the table, returned to the chair and dumped the contents on the floor. Team Lead Mike Hanks made content with Roby and seconds later Roby walked through the Study Hall and returned with a trash can. A member of the Facilities team approached with a broom and dustpan. The video shows Roby gathering his belongings and walking out the south door with TL Hanks. The outdoor video records TL Hanks and SA Barber walking with Roby northbound away from the church.
I called Team Lead Mike Hanks, who is familiar with Roby from previous contacts. According to TL Hanks, Campus Pastor Tracie Moss had given Roby a gift card before the services began. Apparently, Roby misplaced the gift card and began looking through his property during the service. TL Hanks contacted Roby once it was clear that his behavior was distracting others in the Study Hall. TL Hanks asked Roby to gather his belongings and come with him outside. They went out through the south door and Roby continued to search for the gift card and did not want to leave without it. He eventually found it inside one of his bags and then agreed it was time for him to go. TL Hanks and Chris Barber walked Roby off the campus. No further action was taken.
