Incident Report / Actions Taken by Team Members

On Sunday, December 19th, I was contacted by Associate Pastor Austin Visser at the San Marcos/Escondido campus reference an attempted burglary. Austin sent me a screen shot of an individual who attempted to open every door on the exterior of the building. He later contacted me to advise he found a broken glass door inside the west fenced storage unit on the South side of the building.

On Monday, December 20th, I met with Austin and he showed me where the subject had entered the fenced area. It appears the subject attempted to cut the chain link and was successful in removing a few links on the lower left-hand corner. He most likely entered the interior of the fenced area by climbing over the 6ft high fence. There is a glass door inside the fenced area and it had been shattered. The glass door had previously been covered with drywall on the inside so entry was not made. It appears the subject used a hubcap he removed from a nearby golf cart to try and break through the drywall without success. On the North side of the campus, a door knob appears to have been broken, possibly by means of a crow bar or pry tool.

A review of the Synology video system showed a male subject enter the property on December 19th at approx. 3:29 am. The subject is dressed in dark clothing and appears to be wearing a dark security guard jacket and a lighter colored hoodie. The jacket has a patch on both upper arms and possibly a badge patch over the left chest. The subject was wearing a light blue face mask. Due to the distance and the face covering, I could not obtain a clear picture of his face. At no point did he actually make forcible entry into the building. The subject left the campus at approximately 5:10 am on foot.

Downloaded video of the subject is available on the Safety Sharepoint.
