Incident Report / Actions Taken by Team Members
On September 22nd, at approximately 1010 hours an individual, later identified as Jayden Thomas approached the entrance of the Rancho Bernardo Church Campas. Jayden was in possession of a large black backpack. Safety Team members Jeremy Dunaway and I contacted Jayden and obtained verbal consent to search his backpack. The only thing of note in the backpack was a large amount of cash. I returned the backpack to Jayden. Jeremy and I then returned it to our posts.
Pastor Nate contacted Jeremy and I with a life group leader, Grant Schenk. Grant informed us that Jayden’s girlfriend, Barbara Soto had called him an hour earlier saying that Jayden had called her apologizing for the fight last night and “didn’t deserve her and didn’t want to live anymore”. Upon learning this information Jeremy escorted Jayden off the campus while I called SDPD.
Jeremy stood by with Jayden until SDPD arrived.
SDPD made contact with Jayden, but ultimately let him go. Jayden left the campus walking southbound on Paseo Lucido.
No further contact was made.
