Incident Report / Actions Taken by Team Members

During mid-week, junior high program (Chaos), two young men were shouting obscenities, playing loud music, and throwing food items onto our campus property. The men were on a balcony of an apartment overlooking the back (tent) area of our campus. The apartments are high on a hill behind our campus, so the men were sort of over us. In any event, the men were seen throwing food into the bushes near our tent and then started throwing things on our tent and even threw a whole onion into our parking lot. No students were present in the parking lot at the time, as they were all in the auditorium for worship. Safety team members were patrolling outside and saw everything happen.

The team lead was radioed, went to the parking lot, and shown what was going on. Team lead called, NCC Safety director, Tim Moy, to check on what the response should be. After a quick discussion, decision was made to call the County Sherriff’s Department. Team lead called the Sherriff’s dispatch, non-emergency number and reported the incident. A deputy was dispatched, and the team lead explained and showed the deputy what had happened. The deputy said it was good that we called and to call them out again if it ever happened again. He said he would go up to the apartment and knock on the door to give the men a warning. That resolved the issue and the deputy departed. No other disturbances during the night.
