Incident Report / Actions Taken by Team Members

On Sunday, October 29th, at 12:57 AM, I received a phone call from Guard West Security Officer Vernon Johnson who advised of a traffic accident at the Vista campus. I responded and met with Johnson at the east dirt lot of the property (Lot I). A white Toyota sedan CA#5HDT470 had sustained major damage and was positioned upside down near the south perimeter of the lot. Sheriff deputies were on scene and had detained the driver of the vehicle. Johnson advised that an ambulance had left minutes earlier with an injured passenger. Four trees along the south perimeter had been destroyed and 37 feet of the wood post fencing had been damaged or destroyed. A tow truck was on scene per the request of deputies and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle was heading westbound on Santa Fe, west of Osborne when the vehicle veered off the road, destroyed several trees, crashed through the wood fencing, and came to a rest on its roof on the south side of Lot I.

SDSO Traffic Investigator J. Malson provided his business card with a case number of 23146016. Photographs were taken of the scene and are stored under North Coast Reports, Incident 231029-0057V-Photos.
