Describe Medical Event:

Elderly male fainted/passed out during worship portion of service. He had been standing/singing for about 20 minutes. He got lightheaded and went to the ground. He was not injured further in the fall and he did not fully lose consciousness, though he was disoriented. His family called out for help and I responded immediately because I was already in the auditorium (with our worship team onstage). After a quick assessment and assistance from a church member who is a paramedic, the patient was becoming alert. The patient wanted to leave the auditorium, so I got a wheelchair and we were able to move him to the church office. Once in the church office, although he was feeling better, based on his history of pulmonary issues, the decision was made to call 911 for a more thorough assessment. The paramedics responded in less than 5 minutes. Although the paramedics assessed the patient as normal and just recovering from fainting, they recommended that he be transferred to the hospital for evaluation. The patient and his wife agreed, so he was transported, by ambulance, to Temecula Valley Hospital.
